CELEBRATING THE BIRTH OF NELSON MANDELA - 100 YEARS

The United Nations officially declared 18 July as Nelson Mandela International Day in November 2009, recognising Mandela’s “values and his dedication to the service of humanity” and acknowledging his contribution “to the struggle for democracy internationally and the promotion of a culture of peace throughout the world”.

So today we, A Reaching Hand and friends, celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's birth, today on International Mandela Day we are reminded again that “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to helping others without expecting anything in return.” Nelson Mandela also said that “What counts is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”

All of us at A Reaching Hand would like to believe that we try to honour Nelson Mandela's wish with our vision and motto that "A drop of rain is insignificant but together we can make a river!” We sincerely thank our donors for helping to make his dreams come true!
